Younger than the elves but slightly older than humans, dwarves were close allies with the Valcorian empire. In the centuries since it's fall, they have grown powerful as merchants and innovators, particularly with steam technology thanks in part to their gnomish cousins who have grown in status within their culture. Politically they function more as a republic (some would argue oligarchy), in which citizens vote for their elected representatives to seek their best interests. Combined, they've taken over about a third of the former human empire, establishing a united group of republics to consolidate their interests. They have grown very tense with the Elven kingdom they once allied with during the Valcorian empire. Cultural Influences: Scandinavian and Scottish (Norse characteristics with a typical Scottish accent most of the time… because having a dwarf sound like the Swedish chef is too much for me to handle).
